Now in its 39th year, the Brave New Play Rites Festival is a festival of readings of excerpts of new plays by students from the School of Creative Writing.
Pay-What-You-Can tickets are available to book online until 5pm on each show day - select the show date below to book. If you missed booking online, any unsold Pay-What-You-Can seats will be available, cash only, at the door.

Booking tickets: Click "Buy" on your preferred date and select your Pay-What-You-Can price level and number of seats. If you do not already have a UBC Tickets account, you will be prompted to create one. Your confirmation and PDF tickets will be emailed to you from [email protected] . You may also phone (604-822-2697) or visit the Chan Centre Box office, Tue-Fri 12-4PM, for help with your booking. Online sales close at 4PM on each show date, any remaining tickets will be available at the door, cash sales only.
Refund Policy: As we are a student festival and all of our tickets are Pay-What-You-Can, there are no refunds. Patrons who need to cancel have the option of coming on another night.
Content: This year's festival will consist of staged readings with minimal to no use of sound effects (gunshots, etc.) or practical effects (fog, etc.). As each night's programme is different, please contact the producers at [email protected] with regards to any concerns about possible content. Strong language is used by some of our student playwrights. We are unable to provide ASL interpretation, amplification, or Vocal Eye. Most of these plays are not suitable for children, with the exception of The Children of Noisy Co-op on Saturday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m., which is designated as Theatre for Young Audiences.
